Junk Lady was minding her business going through a few bags and boxes that had come off of our truck when I found this gem: a signed poster of the original ‘Monumental Feet’ by Nashville artist Herb Williams. It was for the 2005 Country Music Marathon-Half Marathon.

I bet you have seen Herb’s work around town from the graffiti portion of his ‘Call of the Wild’ art series.  The two I see most often are the mustang on the outside brick wall of the Belcourt Theater and the fawn outside of Old Made Good in Inglewood.

Herb is the curator at Nashville’s Rymer Gallery and shows his work all over the world, including a recent tour of his crayon sculptures in the Far East, including Hong Kong, Beijing, Taiwan, and Shanghai. Yes, you read correctly – crayon sculptures. Herb has one of the only independent accounts with Crayola. He buys them by the case – case after case using hundreds of thousands of crayons. Please check out this great article by Nashville Scene for more information and photos of his work..

This year’s Country Music Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K , benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital, will be held on Saturday, April 25, with the finish line at LP Field.
