While this vintage 1940 Limoges pin itself is not all that wacky, the situation around it landing in my lap is. After the junk truck hauls away items from a job we then sort them. I was processing several large boxes into trash/recycle/donation piles and found a small gift box. Inside the box were the pin and a small note.

Reading the note I found it had been an heirloom piece passed down as generations were married, starting in 1940. I called my husband and asked which job these specific boxes had come from. He told me, I found the client’s phone number, and I called to let make sure she did not toss out this box by mistake. After hearing me out, she laughed and thanked me for the call. She then told me to wear the pin in good health as the pin was her ex-husband’s she never wanted to see it again.
